Why Do You Do What You Do?
The simple why is often the most important thing. Life has a way of changing what’s important to you. Maybe you have hit that place in life where you need to be you. Perhaps, you want to actually enjoy what you are doing.
I totally understand where you are coming from. Part of that realization to me is learning, growing and giving back to others.
What’s yours? Are you still looking too? Maybe you haven’t reached that place yet. That’s okay too. It’s all a matter of growing, aging and life. Age doesn’t particularly indicate the stage. Its life, experiences and just plain us.
So again, what’s the simple why of Natural Health Post?
Of course, I want to be happier and healthier along the way. So… in many ways I’ve come to what Abraham Maslow refers to as the self-actualization stage. In some ways we are all the same here. We all want to find what makes us feel complete.
Abraham Maslow, an American psychologist, devised something called Maslow’s hierarchy of needs for a self-fulfilling life.
Professor Maslow believed in the inherent good of people and helping them become all they could be and wanted to be. He believed that we must go through the phases of self-fulfilling needs to get to the place where we would at some point focus on becoming us.
In fact, this type of research and psychological genius is exactly the simple why of Maslow’s fame for eternity. Just for your information Maslow’s hierarchy goes something like this. There are five stages people have to pass through in life to become truly satisfied with their life’s outcome. Each one must be accomplished before you can move on to the next. Though we may ebb and flow back and forth in some ways, the basic premise of the stage must be met.
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs – The Simple Why of Life
Here they are:
- Physiological needs – food, air, water, etc.
- Security & Safety – shelter, money, protection, etc.
- Social needs – love, affection, belonging
- Esteem needs – personal worth, self-esteem, accomplishment & recognition
- Self-actualization – more concerned with fulfilling self, less concerned with opinions of others
Have you ever been there? You know, those kind of thoughts that say, “I’m just not happy” or “What is it that I really want to do with my life?” Some folks even feel like, “There has to be more in life.”
That might mean you’re chasing dead ends like a job, a bad relationship, or self-fulfillment based on ego or material things. You haven’t found the simple why that makes your life tick. It’s that transitional phase that leads us to change jobs late in life, take on a new hobby or entrepreneurship or maybe even decide to flip your life upside down and go natural health crazy.
Uh hmm, guess where all us natural health groupies fit into? Yep all three.
Also, just so you know, there’s nothing wrong with being here. I mean at this stage in life. It’s just a natural process so be glad we’re all coming along as expected.
As I mentioned above, there are times we will ebb and flow and flow between the stages. Life circumstances sometimes force us backwards and the ever present circle of life spins on. Nope, we’ve never figured out the simple why for the circle either
Some of those circumstances might be like loss of job, loss of home, financial problems and health problems. See what I mean? Life throws curve balls and we just keep on swinging.

Wrapping up the Why
Blunt and in a nutshell, Natural Health Post and all the knowledge and benefits that will come from living it are my self-actualization plan. I will be honored to help you along your own path, as well.
For years I’ve been simmering around the edges of really delving down into living a more natural life. For instance with eating healthier, exercising a way that you can live with, essential oils use, more natural cleaners, soaps, etc. We all know there are toxins and poisons all around us. Why then, do we not do anything about it?
Probably, it’s the same reason it’s taken me so long to get here. Life gets in the way. Fulfilling all of those other things that Maslow talked about become the priorities.
You probably know how it is. If you’re not making enough money to survive, your priorities are misdirected. If there are any of the earlier stages of the hierarchy not satisfied, it’s kind of hard to start chasing after what you think will help you get where you want to go.
Don’t get me wrong, some folks are lucky enough to accomplish this earlier. How, I’m not sure. Maybe they had it easier or had less bumps and bruises along the way. But, just as likely they were lucky to hit on the right niche area of life when getting their career path going.
Perhaps these lucky individuals even have mentors who have helped them. That’s wonderful! But remember….there is no better teacher than experience.
So….though my why, may not exactly be your why, you can understand the concept I’m sure. Feeling better, healthier and happier though will help you find your why and your passion much sooner.
Now…let’s get busy getting you through to the next step!
